Why has my Agapanthus stopped flowering?

It's very verdant and green, but about 2 years ago stopped flowering and I don't know why.

I do remember dh once decided to tidy the garden about the same time and attacked itAngry

I've looked this up and, unsurprisingly ags like to be crowded but not too crowded, divided, but then ooh, they sulk. They are buggers.

I despair. I live in Australia and follow the apparent rule which is to treat them like a piece of crap, chop their roots in half, stuff them in the round, pile in the soil, water and walk away. I swear I saw this done at my school and there they are, all blooming.

< This had better work for me, having hacked up a circle of ags into 12 plantings. Will post if they come up trumps.>

Is it in the ground or in a pot? If its in the ground it's probably just happily bulking up and doesn't feel the need to flower yet. Try a feed designed to make stuff fruit/flower, i.e. tomato food.

Oh. This makes me fear that my biggest pot of agapanthus, which has yet to produce any flower stems, is overly pot-bound. Drat.

As always, the RHS has good advice.

Mine was moved from a pot to the border, and am still waiting (about 4 years later) for more than 6-7 blooms. I fed this (and rose) with old coffee-grounds during the winter, which has made huge difference and should be a good show this year.
