Indoor vegetable garden

Have just received an indoor vegetable garden kit for DS2 (8), but the instructions are missing. The kit contains seeds for radishes, carrots, peppers and peas. Is it ok to sow now or do I need to wait for sunnier weather? There isn't a lot of sunlight in our kitchen during the day at present.

Wait for the spring.
Really, these gardening kits for kids drive me mad. I'm a professional gardener and if I had started out with one of these I would have been put off for life. They generally contain too little compost, inadequate containers and no instructions.

Anyway, rant over. The peppers can be grown indoors, everything else can be started indoors but will flourish much more if planted on outside, either in the ground or in bigger containers.

You can probably start things off in late March if your windowsill is sunny. Provide your own compost if the one in the kit is very dry or is in compressed form.

Thank you, CuttedUpPear. That sounds sensible. I'll wait till March and I'll add some of our own compost to the containers.

I'm a lousy gardener - always forget to water things Sad. It's hard enough remembering to feed the children - I really can't be doing with feeding plants as well.
