I'm presently researching which plants to buy but need something that is more a true-blue rather then purple-blue evergreen shrub. Any Ideas most welcome. Thanks

Sunny and partial shade location - to be located in very very large troughs

Ceanothus? Some get really big but I've seen dwarf varieties as well.

Aw I was going to suggest ceanothus! :) We have a lovely small one that we've trained part way up a wall. It spends half of the day blasted with full sun, then half in shade. Occasionally I tuck back in any stray bits, but that's all, very easy care.

Ceanothus are lovely and one of my favourites - sadly ours was killed by the very bitter winter a few years ago. They will tolerate some frost but if you get one try to put it in a spot that is near a warm wall and away from the prevailing cold wind.

Ooh, sounds like I put it in a good place then. My DSIL has a lovely big one in her garden that's been trained into a tree. When it blooms it has this big flowing cap of blue flowers that smell amazing.
