Hi all, my name has just come up for an allotment plot, have had a look and it is quite big and very overgrown.

The council have offered to clear it for me.

I don't know where to start after that?

When can I start planting and what do I need to do?

Any help would be great!

yes to getting them to clear the plot

sketch out your plot and start planning where things are going

what do you actually want to grow?
how much will you and your family eat?

now is an excellent time for feeding the soil, manure dug in etc

the majority of planting is done in the spring, potatoes go in around february time so use the time to prep the soil, see if there are areas that don't drain properly and sort it now before you start planting

Not the best time of year, but what are your fellow allotment holders growing? This will give you an idea of what does well on your soil.
