Hi, I have an interview tomorrow for a place at university to study adult nursing and I'm so nervous! Does anyone have any good tips on,

  1. how to stay calm, and,
  2. what to expect? It's been a while since I've had to have an interview and I'm bricking it!
    TIA

I'm not a nurse but I do work with a lot of them and apparently the interviews really aren't that bad!
Just remember to always put the patient first in your answers.
In a difficult situation you would always approach your line manager and not struggle beyond your own capabilities.

They always, always ask "why do you want to be a nurse". Hope you have a good answer to this one! Saying 'I want to help people' doesn't carry much weight.

Good luck!!

Haha. They are really fussy these days due to lots of applicants.

So I would suggest nicely dressed. No scruff no tattoos on show if you have any. Yes I am aware of people being turned down for an unprofessional appearance.

Why do you want to nurse.
How do you cope with stress.
How will you cope with working full time and academic demands of course.
Make sure you know the francis report and its impliacations.

Preparation should help yoy stay calm. They wont bite but they wont make it easy. They are back to wanting the best and not filling boots again. Sorry that was a fast synopsis of current politics.

Good luck.;-)

Hiya sorry I've taken so long to reply and say thank you, I've been so stressed!

It went really well thank you. The interviewers were lovely, and I felt quite prepared so wasn't too nervous in the end!
Thanks again for your advice. Smile
