I thought I'd read that this was the case, but I can no longer find anything which says it is.

No but can apply too LA for reduction for disabled LAC children being cared for, dependent on disability and services (structural) provided within the place of residence. Will state on application exemption form.
Think in Cheshire are thinking of Exemption of council tax too attract recruitment of foster parents (read this in the paper) , if it happens it may be extended nation wide hopefully. We have a big house only two of us but lots of children, would down size but need it too accommodate all including one's who have left care, on SGO's etc. are also still fostering two. Exemption is long over due.

Thanks.
I'm single and wanting to foster. I've just moved into my own home so I'm going to wait a month or 2 to see how my bills pan out and see if it will be feasible. It would have helped a lot if foster carers were exempt from council tax! Hopefully one day.

We converted part of house too accommodate disabled FC, parts exempt
Bed Room, dining room, kitchen, ground floor bathroom , all on ground floor. No help off LA with cost except a Loo from B&Q. so expense far greater than any exemption.

You're not exempt as a foster carer, but you will be entitled to a discount if you don't have a partner.
