Opened jar of pesto, been in the fridge for a while.

There are a couple of tiny fluffy spots on the rim of the jar but the pesto in the jar looks fine.

So wipe the rim and use the pesto or bin the lot?.

I realise many wouldn't even consider it but i was raised in a house where it was normal to scrape the mould off the top of homemade jam and cut the mouldy bits off cheddar... both parents now approaching 80....

I wipe it off and use it and I've lived! The trick is to keep the surface of the pesto covered with the olive oil to prevent air getting to it.

I wouldn't eat it, but then again I always ask on here before I eat anything lol so I might end up eating it if everyone on here said it was fine.. peer pressure

that's what i figured, its the dry bits out of the oil that have turned - the main body of pesto, in the oil is fine - i think

Usually I wipe and eat with anything with mould on such as bread or jam as does ds and do. I'm more cautious atm as pg so don't want to risk it.
