Cheap filling healthy lunches ideas for DH?

Hi, DH is trying to lose weight, but he also has a very physical job so gets very hungry. There is no fridge or microwave at work. Oh and we're on a tight budget - and it has to be tasty or he won't stick to it! Any ideas? Thanks

Have yiu tried food in flask eg soups, stews, chicken, curry.cook these in bulk and freeze
Hotter weather, cold chicken, meat with cold potato salad.or pasta salad with veg
Obviously all usual sandwiches on chunky bread

Taking own food will def save money and it's reliable, you know you'll like it

DH takes a lunchbox filled with cooked chicken or leftover meat, leaves, nuts (usually chilli flavoured ones) and a drizzle of chilli oil or dressing. Sometimes he adds chopped cherry tomatoes, cucumber or avocado.

Some good ideas here, thanks. The challenge is staying away from bread (he's trying to cut down on it to lose weight) while making it filling and portable.

Love the idea of chicken and salad though and mackerel too - he loves meat/fish and guess protein is more filling.

Maybe a few hard boiled eggs too to snack on... Might stop him from picking up crisps from the garage when he's famished on the way home...
