Do I defrost frozen Pollack before cooking? (And how do I cook it?)

Fish stumps me a bitConfused but I want to try harder hence bag of frozen pollack and good intentions.

Can I bake it in the oven?

Suggestions appreciated for pollack (or any fish) week night family meals please Smile

Most frozen fish is designed to be cooked from frozen. Check the packet, it will usually say something along the lines of "Best cooked from frozen". There may also be a recommended method/recipe.

Try making kedgeree - it's not difficult and easily done on a week night. (not a suggestion for your pollack, BTW - it needs to be a smoked fish).

I use frozen pollock in fish pie and fried in batter. In both those recipes I do defrost first and find it helps to get rid of as much of the moisture as possible as that stops it going so soggy I haven't baked it but I want to try I was thinking it might be nice on top of ratatouille or something and baked.

I've also made fish pie with it and fish curry, which was nice. Like mrsnec I always defrost before I use, seems just plain wrong somehow to cook from frozen and agree that it helps to get rid of the moisture.
