How to host a dinner party with no dining space?

I have never held a dinner party in my life, and I’m now late 20s and think it’s about time I got over my phobia, I’ve (pretty stupidly) always felt insecure about whatever house I’ve lived in as always been skint and lived in small houses with cheapie furniture. I currently live in a small, compact 2 up 2 down semi. Kitchen is small, just has space for functional items. Living room is nice but petite, I have floor space for my main furniture like sofa etc. I don’t have a dining table as such, just a small wooden table with leaves, it sits in the kitchen in its folded state the vast majority of the time. It has four chairs which are stored away. The table could seat 4 people around it at a push, is it ok to move this table into middle of the living room for eating? Which would mean literally no space left in living room but if its only for eating is this ok? If not I would have to rearrange living somehow. I do have a garden with table and chairs fingers crossed it can be good weather and we'll sit outside!
What does everyone else do? hides in shame from never holding dinner party at grand old age of 28

Yeah it is def ok to put up table in living room. When we have friends over we end up sitting at the table the whole night so don't need to get to sofa ect.

Keep food simple and prep in advance - that way you can enjoy the evening!

Putting the table in the living room is absolutely fine.

I've had "dinner parties" consisting of mountains of Chinese takeaway eaten around the coffee table before :o

I have no room for a propper table to be out all the time, I have a folding one that seats 6 and pretends it is a shelf behind the sofa when not in use. It's not a problem.

The other thing you could do is a traditional Indian meal - put some clean sheets on the floor to serve food and give everyone a cushion.
