My jam is too thick even before I get it into the jars - any solutions?

you've boiled it too long... bottle it straight away! it wil be very stiff but should still taste goodsmile

Just that really. I have the jars in the oven. Strawberries in the pot and the edge of the pot and the surface is already going like jelly. Can I add more strawberries or a bit of water? Any suggestions gratefully received.
