It's barbecue time - easy ideas for something a bit different please

We are having a small crowd round on Saturday - 8 adults and a few children. We don't have a huge amount of prep time as we need to tidy up first Blush. What can we feed them other than burgers and sausages? We could probably stretch to a bit of marinading and making kebabs, but I never know what to marinade in or what sauce to use with kebabs.

For really easy fajita kebabs, mix a packet of fajita seasoning with a bit of oil and coat chicken in it, put peppers and onions with it.

one packet of seasoning does about 8 kebabs.

Did it last week at last minute bbq, went down well

I made some fab lamb, pea and mint burgers the other day. You need to lightly cook the peas first but then just mix mince, mint and peas, shape and cook. Very yummy indeed.

Drumsticks. Marinated in a bit of oil, paprika and chicken seasoning. Or you could use wings.

Butterflied chicken breasts in piri piri sauce - Nandos do nice ones.

Rub lamb with garlic, olive oil, lemon, salt and thyme for Greek kebabs. Mix up some mint sauce with plain yoghurt and serve with chopped salad in wraps or pittas.

Thin cut steaks - Sainsbury's do really good cheap ones in their value range. Cut them to size and marinade in olive oil, English mustard, salt and pepper.

We did that with chicken yesterday Leviticus - it was delicious. I'll order some more piri piri. I love lamb, so the lamb burgers or kebabs sound yum.

Barbecued Halloumi cheese tastes lovely and is so easy. Be careful not to over BBQ though, a few minutes on each side is enough say 4-5.

Stick cubes of halamoui, peppers, red onion and courgette on a kebab stick. Drizzle with oil and grill.

Plain old corn on the cob is always nice.

Big flat mushrooms cook well too.

Tbh though I just love a plain old burger in a bun.

What about ribs? I buy this kind of thing - cook in microwave and put on BBQ for a few minutes to burn finish off

Where I live, you can buy chicken mince in the supermarket, but I prefer to get the butcher to mince it for me, so I know what's being minced!

I made this Greek lamb at the weekend. I bought the lamb at the butchers and he butterflied it for me. It was absolutely delicious, even DS (6) enjoyed it and he doesn't eat a lot of meat.

I made the tzatziki too and served it with pitta breads and red pepper couscous.
