Watching for ideas too! DS is 2 and hardly eating lunch at all in the heat apart from cherry tomatoes. Nice nappies ;)

  • pita bread with filling (ham or cheese in this house!)
  • plain wrap pizza - brilliant if you get them to 'help' - we use pizza express passata and add grated mozzerella & cheddar. DS2 adds ham
  • plain wrap 'sandwich' - more ham and cheese! Using a light spread of phili holds it together better. Again a great one for them to help.
  • hot dogs (regular sausage in a finger roll with lots of ketchup.

Another vote for picky bits here - little sausages (cold or slightly warm), a bit of sweetcorn, boiled new potatoes sliced up and served cold or slightly warm, breadsticks, mini Cheddars, cheese sticks, grapes (cutted-up, obv), blueberries, strawberries, etc.

My DS isn't eating much for lunch in this heat, but is having a mahoosive breakfast (cold milk on the cereal, followed with yoghurt).

Thanks for the suggestions. Ds isn't eating much at all at the moment, even breakfast - although today I reckon he had about 2.5 cups of cold milk on top of his 5 mouthfuls of cereal!

He is also just eating fruit non stop. He had really messy nappy at 5am - not my idea of fun and he won't go back to sleep after that!

When you do picky bits do you mix up the fruit and main bits or stick to a main then pudding? because I think if I put fruit on the same plate as the other stuff he'd only eat the fruit!

My LO is living off hummus at the moment, on breadsticks, crackers etc.

Since weather warmed up DS2 (2.7) has had some of the following lunches:
Cheese / ham sandwiches, omelette, sliced hard boiled egg (he LOVES using the <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.ikea.com/gb/en/images/products/slat-egg-slicer__0150775_PE308847_S4.JPG&imgrefurl=www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80213984/&h=500&w=500&sz=58&tbnid=U5mZfePEOOcQxM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__Oy5Tr6-oNetgSPZPjEsnFnhBC5U=&docid=NLtH0_BO4ltgfM&sa=X&ei=97rlUcahMYS60QXtvYHwDg&ved=0CD8Q9QEwAg&dur=604" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">egg slicer), sliced new potatoes (with egg slicer Grin), pitta bread and houmous.

All served with cherry tomatoes and cucumber as he doesn't like other 'salad' stuff ATM but he seems happy enough with that.

Also drinking gallons of milk.

gah DS won't eat egg! It about the only thing I have had zero succes with
.

Pizza was a hit today, the cucmber and cherry toms (with EVERYTHING) at the moment.

Also had a good lunch day with some falafel, hummos and sticks of things yesterday

Good to hear milk is a common theme. I have been resisting his pleas for milk as I always think it will kill his appetite, but I gues in this weather its a good way of getting fluid in!

Brioche popular with 22 mo DS as a change from bread for sandwiches.

Also cold pasta salad.

Sausage rolls also a hit (wrap sausage meat in puff pastry, shove in oven for 10 mins et voila! Freeze brilliantly too)

Need to try eggy bread! How do you do this kid friendly?

We're doing lots of fruit, cereals, cheese, sandwiches, scotch egg, cheese biscuits, dried fruit. Yoghurts etc

Egg on toast is a fave too.

What about dinners??

We love veggies, pasta dishes, chicken stir fry (all recently) or pizza and picky things.

Mine dds are 33m, & nearly 14m. I'm expecting number 3 so trying to eat well with them!Smile

Eggy bread
Beat an egg.
Soak a slice of bread in it for a few mins, turn it over and soak a bit more.
Fry it.

Serve with berries, honey, sprinkles etc or ham
and tomatoes
