Vegan comfort food

Hi, I've been vegan for about 10 months now (was previously veggie). I have been feeling unwell the last few days and am wondering what you all do for stodgy comfort food, that doesn't require ages in the kitchen. Any ideas?

Falafels?? In pitta bread with garlic mayonnaise and red onion??? YUM! Also on a chickpea theme: tinned chickpeas, drained and tossed in oil and salt and paprika and roasted.

It takes a bit of time to start with, though is instant next time you want some, but lentil soup is lovely in all its forms. I made one yesterday with leeks, carrot, celery and potato, cooked in stock (though I killed the celery in a little butter first - oil would be fine) flavoured with rosemary and bay leaf, with green lentils in. It was even better today than yesterday.

Oh - and for quick, warming stodge, porridge with chopped banana in it!

I'm not a vegan so I'm shooting in the dark a bit here but what about gnocchi with tomato sauce? V stodgy and comforting.

Jacket potatoes with soya mince chilli, or baked beans? Baked sweet potatoes are yummy, but my favourite filling for them is feta cheese and chopped red onion, which doesn't really help you.

Roasted butternut squash soup? Leek and potato soup? There's a brilliant Nigella split pea soup recipe in Feast - literally just onion, garlic, celery, carrot, split peas and stock/water. I usually add chopped up frankfurters - if you can get a vegan version then that would be the ultimate comfort food. God I love that soup.

Almond porridge is also lovely. 1/2 cup oats 1 cup almond milk and 1tbs of ground almonds. Also a sweet potato and chick pea curry is delish!!!

My savoury suggestions for comfort food would include: Spanish butter beans- a chunky, substantial and tasty dish. It's inspired by the potatas bravas tapas idea
Jambalaya a rice, bean and tomato dish. Lovely with pumpkin seeds.
What about a shepardess pie? I love the combination of a rich lentil mixture and mashed potato topping...

Lots of great ideas - thanks! Almond porridge sounds lovely and gnocchi is gorgeous & super quick.
Laquila - you have reminded me that I have some homemade soup in the freezer. Will defrost for tomorrow

sweet potato curry - sweet pots, peas, peppers, onions plus balti paste and coconut milk. fry onions, chop everything else. put in casserole in oven for about half an hour.
