I have cooked baby new potatoes, 1/2 a pot of cream, frozen peas and a tin of tuna...what can I make?

I do have a few random store cupboard ingredients aswell but the only veg in the house is the peas which unfortunately is DS' least favourite. If I can make something really tasty then he may forgive me for trying to punish him with peas Grin!!

Oh and I have got sweet potatoes too but I'm the only one who likes them...I'd be happy to add them just to my plate though if there are any suggestions of how I could include them.

heat the potatoes, peas and tuna, then stir in cream, salt, pepper and some dried herbs/ paprika, heat through until the cream is warm... voila, instant creamy potato bake :-)

Maybe mash the sweet potato and serve it on the side?

Do you have bread to make breadcrumbs with? Maybe tuna fishcakes?

Valia - I don't have paprika but do have mixed herbs...would that be enough to make it tasty? I'm so rubbish at knowing which ingredients to put together.

We had sweet potato mash yesterday. It was really good and DS did have a little bit so will try it again and see if my mindee will try it too.

Ouryve - yes, I have bread. Would I have to peel the baby new potatoes though to turn them into fish cakes?

Just crush them, unless you're a glutton for punishment. They won't mash like normal potatoes anyhow. Make them small, using a very little bit of the cream to bind and chill them before frying.

If they fall apart, it's tuna bubble and squeak :o

Mixed herbs would be fine, they're my staple 'make things tasty' ingredient :) tuna fishcakes sound nice too though!

Grin if I'm involved in the preparing/cooking then it will most likely end up as something quite different to whatever was originally planned!!

I'd maybe crush the pots lightly (or cut into chunks), mix with the tuna, peans and cream and a good handful of grated cheddar. Maybe a bit of mayo and a wee bit of dijon mustard or dry mustard powder too? More cheddar on top and bake. Sort of tuna pasta bake, but tuna potato bake.

Or maybe an empanada type thing if you have some frozen pastry (shortcrust or puff), or can be bothered and have provisions to make some shortcrust. With tuna, sliced, cooked potatoes, peas - but with a bit of a tomato sauce rather than the cream you have. Kinda like a Spanish version of a cornish pasty.

Got any eggs? How about a frittata?

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I ended up making a rather odd combination but it actually tasted quite nice and both DS and mindee ate it (mindee had seconds Shock).

I chopped the potatoes and added the tuna, peas, tomato pesto and cream. Put it all in a dish and Covered it in breadcrumbs and finely grated cheese then baked it. Served with sweet potato mash (as predicted, only I ate it Grin).

Now, what to do with the left over sweet potato mash?
