salad to go with roast chicken?

I have some friend coming for supper on Wednesday. Very casual, best pals type night, we are mostly drinking (dc are away), so I don't want to do loads of cooking whilst they are here.
However, despite the fact they are coming over for drinks, I am going to do some supper, and I was thinking roast chicken and salad, but I am out of ideas for salads to go with the chicken.
I usually do a potato salad, coleslaw and green salad, but I want some ideas for something a bit different, that can be prepared during the day.
Help!

Not salad but how about baking some potatoes? Roasted veg cous cous? Rice salad with spring onions, pineapple, peppers and sweetcorn?

Watercress, rocket and spinach salad, bacon, avocado, maybe some cherry tomatoes too?

Chickpeas. Finely chopped red onion, peppers then whizz up coriander, mint and olive oil for dressing. Fast and yum.

Mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and avocado splashed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil is very nice.

From the laziest meals thread, this sounds lovely with the final twist of peppers, onions and tahini:

Middle Eastern roasted cauliflower salad
Lots of cauli florets, bunged in a big roasting tray, drizzled with tons of olive oil (I like to add 1/4 of a teaspoon each of cumin and turmeric to the oil but you don't have to) a good dose of salt and pepper, and roast, long and slow until it's soft and golden. If you have the oven too high the flowery bits will burn before the stalks are softened. This is absolutely delicious hot or cold.
If you want to make it a bit posher you can sprinkle it with tiny confetti of red, green and yellow peppers and very finely chopped red onion, and drizzle with tahina sauce. (tahina paste mixed with water and lemon juice..) It's a lovely salad to go with simple roast chicken or lamb chops, great for parties and barbecues.
