Someone suggested I use this for making my birthday cake as it is more solid and takes icing well. Does anyone have the recipe please?

250g plain flour
1 1/2tsp baking powder
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/4tsp salt
200ml buttermilk
1 1/2tsp vanilla
125g butter
200g caster sugar
3large eggs

2 sandwich tins, lined and greased.

Set oven to 180/gas mark 4.

Mix dry ingredients together. Mix buttermilk and vanilla together. Cream the butter and sugar until it's light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs. Add alternate amounts of the buttermilk and flour mixture, until it's all incorporated, then pour into the tins. Bake for 30 minutes, until a tester comes out clean. Let the cakes sool in their tins for about 10 minutes, then unmould them and leave them to cool completely before you ice it. Apply to face!

This is a seriously good cake recipe. Remember to keep some back for yourself. You can also cut it up to make shapes to assemble an odd shaped cake- I recently used it to make a flame throwing dragon cake!

I made this for a clown cake and although I burnt the cake slightly it was very tasty.
