Flouncers' corner

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye

CarpeJugulum · 27/03/2013 17:03

I post, and no one replies - with maybe one or two threads as an exception. Or I post on a thread and kill it.

It seems that I am destined for the same cyber-life as real life; the e-equivalent of a wallflower.

Maybe it's my posting style, but it's stupidly making me sad.

So, farewell all. Live long and prosper!

Now see youve just posted this to prove your point, and Ive ruined it by replying Grin And anyway im the ultimate thread killer, I shall prove it for you!

Love your name btw, dont be sad, I dont have a great posting style, I always seem to say the wrong thing Seriously, do you just float or have you joined` a thread of something that interests you? ie, pregnancy, weight things, tv etc? I find that better and more chatty iyswim.

See, now you are getting the replies!

I know you. I know I have replied to you before. Ergo you are a fibber.

I start posts that disappear into the either all ignored. Doesn't stop me enjoying the site.

How long have you been ere and what topics do you post on? I've never even seen your name before and I virtually live here so you obviously are just not trying hard enough. It can take months and months of blood sweat and tears to get anyone to recognise you on here. Don't be a lily-livered quitter.

As Reality once said 'you have to put the hours in.'

And as the lovely Pinot once said 'I just stomped all over everyone's threads in my clown shoes until they finally gave in and spoke to me.'

Terry Pratchett's books have helped me through some tough times (assume you are a fan).

If you flounce will you read more & if so what? Wink and Flowers Flowers

Sorry to read you've had a not very warm experience I feel right on the edge and have killed a few threads but a toe on the mat now xx

I post. I get no replies. I do enjoy this site though.

Good luck CarpeJugulum, I hope life treats you well.

PS; I recognise your name too.

Mother of all thread killers here......... Think I've just killed one in AIBU, which is quite hard to do! My first ever post was intended as lighthearted, but taken the wrong way by about 300 people and was totally flamed - I didn't dare come back for months! Major NC later and am a permanent fixture, though still seem to pitch my posts a bit seriously, sometimes I actually bore myself. Anyone still awake...........?

Thanks for the replies, but it's the posting about stuff that worries me - see existing post about my DS - and no replies that makes me sad.

I think I'm relying on MNet as I have no one else to ask - and then feel let down and depressed.

So, I'm off anyways - I may be back, but I need to get out now.

Ach, it happens to everyone. Many's the time I've made a pithy and insightful reply to something, only to be ignored OR have someone else say the same thing a few posts later to virtual applause. Grin Wink

You could use it to your advantage, though. You could just burst onto a thread, shout GHERKINS ARE THE DEVIL'S WORK or somesuch (pick your thread carefully, of course) and switch your computer off for a while. Repeat at random intervals, purely for your own amusement.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 27/03/2013 17:18

It happens to all of us! Don't take it personally. You just have to throw yourself in. Mostly, you won't get a personal reply to a contribution to a thread, you're just part of the group chatting. I kill many threads I go on! It's a real skill. MNHQ should pay me to go on the bunfights. Grin

And mn is so busy that threads slide out of active so fast! There's currently 113 threads that haven't had one single response.

Shodan · 27/03/2013 17:18

Oh bums.

Slow typing makes a x-post fool out of me. I'm sorry you're having problems.

Sometimes it's the time of day/week that makes a difference to how many replies you get though.

I'm sure I recognise you. I overthink before posting, so either miss the moment or kill the thread. [sigh]

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/03/2013 17:20

Oh God no one ever replies to me. I'd have gone years ago by that token! Start your threads with "oi fuckers, over here now!" and you'll get lots of responses!

Seriously. Give it another try when you're ready. I hope you get someone to talk to about your DS.

You posted at 16.42 in Childrens Health and flounce 21 minutes later... it's not you, it's just not the busiest section, and it is bang on tea-time... You should post in Chat for stuff you want a quick answer to.

But I do recognise your name. Have a Brew and hope your DS feels better soon. The breathing is more a worry than the temperature, imo. Maybe ring NHS Direct to set your mind at rest.

Shodan GHERKINS ARE THE DEVIL'S WORK? How very dare you, DD loves them and will happily eat jars of the bloody disgusting things. I am shocked I tell you, shocked.

I'm one of those weirdoes who sees the need to read whole threads before replying, so I usually get there with my wit&wisdom round about page 39 and 3/4s. I'll go toe-to-toe with you on thread-killing!

BTW, agree with the NHS Direct concept - they're well used to us worry-warts by now.

So flounce right back, ya dreadful wench. Grin

A lot of people will not have seen your post about ds. I haven't seen it. Come on, you are not being annoyed.

Give us a link to the thread and we'll get cracking on it if we have anything reasonable to say, or even maybe if we don't

No, you are annoyed. I meant ignored. You are not being ignored.

Carpe, Zombie is sad to see this. She's sure that we've spoken on a couple of threads.

If you need a break, take it. But please come back soon.

You must stay for two v good reasons:

 1. You live in Scotland.
 2. You can spell 'aufwiedersehn' properly.

You should only go if you are offensive and trashy. (though there are appreciative corners of MN for these breeds..). I get a lot of the trashy stuff, but that's the way of the world.
Post again, and if you feel you are being ignored, post it again with "Oi! I'm talking to you, vipers!" Or some such. Wall flowers are often exquisite roses or orchids when they bloom.

And you're a Pratchett fan! No such thing as too many Pratchett fans in the room.

Hope DS is feeling better.
