PND - a wee success story? <<crosses fingers>>

Hi,

I just thought I'd share my experience of the last 5 months or so.

I think it was the Sunday night when I said to my dh of my ds "I hate him" that I truly realised I had PND. TBH I'd suspected it for months but I finally plucked up the courage to go the docs and confess how bad I'd been feeling since my ds was born. She was very understanding and we talked it through. Thr upshot is that I've been on fluoxitine (sp?) for a week now and I honestly haven't looked back. Don't know how much of it has been placebo effect though! My only regret it that I didn't do it months ago (ds is now nearly 6 mths). I look back on my son's early months with some sadness when it didn't really need to be like that. But I look forward to the future now when previously I couldn't face even getting out of bed some days.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are feeling low and have been for ages, do go and speak to your doctor about it. It can get better!

Erm that's it. Hope it helps someone!

Thats great news hamish. Well done for getting some help, it is a difficult step to make.

I really hope that things continue to be on the up for you. If you feel like a rant you should take a look at the citalopram buddies thread. It is a drug that is principally the same as the one you are taking (prozac). They work in the same way.

Enjoy your little one

Thanks girls! If someone wants to start a prozac buddy thread then I'll happily contribute otherwise I may hi-jack the citalopram thread
