Hi Mummy2ALfie, I've been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 20mg for ages now. It's turned my life around. It took a while to kcik in but now I can function like a normal human being.

My side effects have been weight gain, tiredness and odd dreams but for me the benefits have far outweighed the problems

Different AD's work differently for different people so everyone will have different experiences.

Can I ask, why are you afraid to take it?

I took my first one yesterday and today feel really weird and lightheaded. Not sure if this si the drug or the fact I have n't eaten for 4 days.....

Had no idea weightgain was a side effect-I really don't need that on top of my depression.

SJW - weightgain doesn't affect everyone, please try not to worry. I've always had a problem with my weight anyway.

If you can't eat try an energy drink or orange juice - at least you'll be getting a few much needed calories.

Take care.

I know it's wrong but am getting my calories from vodka
Never been off my food in my life and I know it won't last long.

Also had a can of red bull today to try and get rid of the fuzzy, tired feeling.

I have been on cipralex since August and my anxiety got worse for 4 weeks but by 6 weeks it had almost gone. I am a bit cautious about writing this because I don't want to put anyone off taking it because when it did work it worked great and it only seems to happen to a minority of people. Just a note of caution that you might not feel great for a couple of weeks but don't give up because of this. Apart from that I have had no side effects but I know when you read the side effects on the leaflet they look damn scary don't they? Remember they hardly happen to anyone but they have to put it in.
