I have Emetophobia, as well as other issues that have been mentioned over the years.

Anyway, the emetophobia is ruling my life causing huge anxiety issues and agoraphobic and OCD behaviours.

Over the last 10 years various doctors have tried to get me to take AD's but I can't as the common side-effects is nausea and vomiting.

So.....I feel myself getting worse and need to sort this, I went to my GP and asked for some AD's but asked if I could take anti-sickness tablets too...she agreed.

I still haven't worked up the courage to take them yet, I just wanted to know if anyone else has used anti-sickness meds and do they REALLY stop you being sick? Sad

Hi Daisy, what kind of mess have you been given?

Cyclizine is really effective ime

Try not to worry Daisy, citalopram is very unlikely to make you sick but the cyclizine is an effective antiemetic. You might feel nauseous but you're very, very unlikely to be physically ill.

Ok, thank you, I just need reassurance before I take the plunge!

My GP did warn me that the Citalopram may increase my anxiety at first, but I'll just have to live with that, it's the sickness that's causing me concern!

Hi,

I takeBuspirone 5mg, and I love them. No side effects, and they really seem to help. Although I always feel nauseous I've never actually been ill.

Best of luck.

UPDATE

Just thought I'd update in case my experience helps anyone else.

Well I did manage to start the Citalopram, but only started last week. It has taken me so long to get to this stage.

The morning I started I took the anti-sickness pill first then it took me a further 2 hours to take the Citalopram (with lots of encouragement from a good friend of mineBlush)

I did get a bit of a funny stomach ache about 3 hours after taking it (and had loose stools), but I can honestly say that was the worse side effect I have had so far.

I am now on Day 4 and just taking one anti-sickness tablet a day. I've had fleeting waves of nausea and yesterday lost my appetite completely.

I've had no increase in anxiety (yet) but I can feel the effects slightly (a little spaced out).

Anyway, I'm so glad that I finally managed to start it, after over 10 years of mental health problems and being told to take meds I've done it!! Smile

(just hope it works now!)
