prozac and dizzy spells

Hi
I was diagnosed with depression a week ago and although its not just post natal depression (I've had a lot of things contributing to me feeling lower and lower over the past 6 mths or so) obviously looking after 2 little ones has also been a factor in me feeling so tired and not feeling like 'me' anymore!

I was just wondering if anyone else who is/has been on prozac (fluoxetine) has had really severe dizzy spells? Over the last 2 days I've had really bad dizzy spells only 2 or 3 times a day lasting no more than an hour but its enough to stop me from driving and having to lie down so i don't fall over (the room spins as if I've one too many!!) I was just wondering if this is my body adjusting to the medication or if its more likely to be a side effect that will probably happen indefinately? I really don't want to go back to the docs yet bout it in case it is just a 'getting used to' (I've got an appt to see gp in 2 wks to see how I'm getting on and I definately feel a difference already apart from these spells!
Any help/advice greatly appreciated
Thanks
jo

I took similar medication years ago. Dizzyness is one of the side effects you should report to your doctor straight away. You may need to be given different mediction. SOme side effects settle in a couple of weeks, but this is one that you should report immediately. Even just on a safety basis - getting dizzy crossing the road or driving could be fatal.

FWIW - Seeing a counsellor recently did more for me than SSRI's ever did. I was completely sceptical at first, ("how can whining about stuff help me") but went as my DH thought it would help me sort some stuff out. One of the best things I ever did.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
