Worried about insurance

Hi,

I've been reading this forum for a while and have found it quite helpful. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the effects of being diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression on their ability to get life/health/critical illness insurance?

I know it'll sound daft but I'm really worried about seeking any kind of help for what I'm pretty sure is long running anxiety and depression in case it means I'm unable to properly protect my loved ones, with life insurance in particular once I have this on my medical record.

Rationally, I know it's daft to avoid dealing with a problem I know I have because I'm worried about another one I might possibly have in future but my brain is stuck in this loop. Has anyone managed to keep hold of this kind of insurance post-diagnosis, without too much of a hike in premiums?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello

I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety two years ago and applies for life insurance last month, as I am buying a house with DH.

I put down on the forms about my depression and that I was signed off of work for 8 weeks as a result.

A nurse from the insurance company phoned me later in the week and had a 30 minute "interview" in which she asked me lots of detailed questions about my mental health.

They decided to cover me, with slightly higher premiums- but I am not covered for any depression/anxiety related illnesses or time off of work.

I hope this helps. PM me if you want any more info.
