I think if someone could give the definitive answer to this question, they would be a millionaire! I don't think that there is one simple answer, and I think it depends in what way you are trying to increase your confidence. Where do you feel you are lacking confidence: socially, in the workplace, with your looks etc? I think one way to help yourself is to set yourself tiny, baby-step challenges. So, for example, if you want to feel more confident in social situations, begin by saying hello to a few people, build up to joining a new class or activity and so on. I think there are a lot of websites and books you can read to support you in this.

Oh, I don't know. I'm probably the most confidant person you will ever meet, but I don't have any self esteem and that affects my relationships.

I feel so down in the dumps!

Simplessee a psychologist. Well, it's not that simple, but there must be reasons why you feel that way. I was very sniffy about seeing a psychologist before I suffered PND, but she has been brilliant. I think anyone can benefit from that kind of help. (But it needs to be a decent psychologistI'm sure a crap one could do more harm than good.)

Yeah, I'd love to do that. I think I will look into some counselling!

Agree with scissors. There must be a reason why you are feeling this way. We aren't born with self esteem issues, right? My DC think he's the shiZz and what he says goes. He's only 1.5!
Also had PND and psychotherapy helped as well as ACT
Affirmations helped a lot. Look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself how friggin amazing u are. At first it'll seem laughable. Was in tears early days. But gradually started to believe it. There's no quick fix.
Oh, and stop the self criticism. If some random person on the street told you that you were a t@?t would u take it? Hell no. So why on earth should u do accept that from yourself?
