SAD lamp recommendations

Hi everyone.

Please does anyone know about SAD lamps? I want to get one but am bewildered by the choice!

I want a reasonably small one to take to work and back, and lend to others if poss.

I'm considering the "Lumie Brightspark" (£115) or the "Litepod" (£115). Or an "Inspiration" lamp (£145) which has a dawn simulation mode as well as the 10,000 lux option.

There's a much cheaper one (£50) called the "Lifemax therapy pad" but it's only 5000 Lux and I don't know at what distance that is either.

Or the (£159) Apollo "BLUEWAVE" GoLite P1 claims to be muc better than the traditional 10,000 lux. But I don't know whether that's true. Their website says they can tell you the best time for you to use it and using it at other times may be counter-productive. So would this mean I couldn't share it with a friend? And can you use normal SAd lamps at different times of day or not?

Thanks for any comments....

HAve you checked Phillips models? they are more expensive but you only need to be in front of them one hour a day rather than 2-3. There is also a light box that you can place above a computer screen so you get the benefits of it while you work.

Yeah, all of the ones I mentionned are quick ones which can work while you work on computer etc. Brightspark/Litepod can go on top of computer. Inspiration is a desk lamp.
Apollo Bluewave is tiny so guess it can go anywhere!

I'll have a look at Phillips, thanks. Although I actually don't mind a long usage time if it can be on while I'm at computer/reading/watching TV

Think handlemecarefully was looking at these Angela - do a search on her name and you might find something.

Thanks very much, Potty. I couldn't find a thread about SAD when I looked before, which is why I started this one. But found searching for "handlemecarefully"
