That's a question I usually refuse to answer - it varies so much between individuals, and what perosn A lost bears no relation to what you might lose. But do have a look at our fabulous
inspirational thread

Have been on 5:2 for 2 full weeks now and so far have lost 11lbs. To say I am thrilled is an understatement but I am worried that losing weight at this rate isn't particularly sustainable (I've got another 10-14lbs to lose)

I lost a stone in a term in 2012 and have kept it off since

I lost 3st in 12 months.
That was 2 years ago, and I have kept the weight off and continued to follow the 5:2 principle, albeit less religiously!

To answer op's question:

I can't be entirely sure because I was a bit vague with the scales but I think I lost 4 or 5lb in 9 months.

I had 35lb to lose.

I lost about 10lbs in two months on 5:2 and kept it off over Christmas. Look at the inspirations thread for more stories.

but also remember that mintyy too is representative : of the group of people for whom 5:2 does not work.
Most of them vanish from these boards, Mintyy is good for us as otherwise we'd start thinking 5:2 really was a panacea Grin

Thanks Talky Grin.

Dh, otoh, is getting close to the 3 stone mark. That's in 15/16 months. He could still do with losing another stone or two tbh.
