Fasting / 5:2 diet

Fast day, so shaky I vomited...!

I've been on 5:2 for about 3 months, lost about 5kg, now about 67kg and a size 10, so all good there.
BUT, HELP
I've started getting nasty dizzy/ shaky/ swooning weakness. The first time was day after fasting, today it was my Fast day. I felt so strange and ended up being sick - with nothing but green tea as thats all I'd had up to that point in the day.
Initially I wondered if low blood sugars, then if I may be hypoglycemic?
or is my body saying - enough is enough? I'm a Blood Type B, maybe I' try 6:1, low-carb or doing the Eat right for your Type diet. www.dadamo.com/
ideas, tips, advice please??

Hi Littlemisskiwi

Sounds very much like a bug to me, and nothing to do with fasting.

I'd give it a couple of days drinking mainly water and taking it easy - but eat if you feel like it.

Get well soon! Smile

Green tea on an empty stomach does that to me. Do you normally drink it?

Sounds like hypoglycaemia.

I used to get it if I didn't eat until the afternoon. 5:2 compleyely cured me of that. Now I only get it if I fast but had a load of naughty/sugary food before bed the previous night. If I've eaten a big but healthy meal the night before my fast I'm fine.

Do you eat a lot of sugary/high carb foods before a fast day littlemiss?

Interesting. Thank you
No, I'm not a sugary eater usually.
Night before I did have two glasses of red wine and brie with crackers until late.
Dont think its a bug, but maybe...
I drink green tea every day, have done for years. On an empty tummy might make me ill though.

Hi Littlemiss

Green tea on empty stomach makes me feel very sick. I love my coffee, but occasionally, its just too much on an empty tum. I seem to recall the caffeine effects your insulin/blood sugar which if low would make you feel blee.

Sometimes alcohol the night before ruins me for fasting the next day, remember your liver has much to cope with dealing with fat stores and toxins held within.

Totm also, not necessarily the period but maybe when ovulating or the hormone surges that kick start the period. Again, these often effect insulin/blood sugar.

All in, you do get the odd sicky yucky fast, but by far the majority are fine. Hth, and that you're better soon.

I can't drink green tea on an empty stomach. Or any tea in fact. Never used to be like that but suddenly changed. Come to think of it, it happened when I got pg....

I have problems regulating blood sugar levels, but not usually on fast days. I'll have a mini can of Scheweppes lemonade (27 cal) if I feel myself flagging.

I sometimes feel really yukky towards the end of a fast day. Once I kept waking up in the night because I was so hungry. I decided this was ridiculous so now, if I feel like that I have something like an oatcake and a glass of milk. There's no need to be feeling ill. This hasn't made any difference, I guess as I'm still eating a hugely reduced number of calories. It's interesting though.....my dp who is much bigger than me and used to snack all the time before 5:2 has very little difficulty with the fast days!
