Decided to give this 5:2 thing a go. Got about 2 and a half stone to lose that has creeped on and stayed on since pregnancy. Really hoping this works for me! Planning on fast day tmr then day off for nye and then fast again New Year's Day..

Any thoughts in whether 4:3 would be best to kick start weight loss?
Hoping to combine with 30 day shred too

I need to get back on it too. Lost about 10 pounds from October - December but have pretty much put all of this back on over Christmas. grrrr Angry

I have been doing this since mid November and lost more than a stone! Gone from 11.4 to 9.13 (on Monday...but pigged a bit over Christmas).

I have found it works if I do 500 cals 2 days a week and then the other days really concentrate on calorie counting too - 1800 cals sounds a lot but you still need to watch for butter, cheese, chocolate or whatever your downfall may be.

I also feel a lot more energetic - running a lot better and further for example.

I am still going to do it in the New Year to maintain - I imagineonce I get to about 9st 10 I won't lose much more anyway (which will be fine!)

Good luck OP :)

Belle you are NOT a failure. We do not have failures, just degrees of success. You have learnt that you can not eat all day and it didn't kill you.

I'm on maintenance now and I often have what we call a half fast - so no food all day but eat normally in the evening.

One tip - if you are drinking tonight then maybe leave your next fast until Thursday, fasting with a hangover is not fun.

Took your advice French and completed first fast today.

Went ok. Had Apple, pineapple and passion fruit juice from
Smoothie stand around 11 and then a cup of coffee mid afternoon and chicken, peppers, onion and tomato for tea done on the George Forman. Was dying by teatime though and getting a migraine Sad thinking I may need to up my water intake more

Well done Belle I often forget to drink on fast days as I normally drink lots of water with meals. I have to make a special effort to remember.

I do drink gallons of black coffee though which helps.

Thanks French Smile all this moral support really helps.
Schlurpbob how are u getting on?

Supposed to be going for an Indian meal out with the girls at the weekend. Any suggestions on what I could order which wouldn't be too terrible? I'm thinking chicken tikka may be best?

Did my first day today too. Have found it ok but have just had 1weetabix for breakfast and then split a covent garden soup between lunch and dinner. Have been looking at recipe threads on here and may try to get more adventurous next fast day (Monday for me)

belle if the Indian meal falls on a NFD then eat what you enjoy eating. Just eat mindfully, stop when you have had enough.

Hi everyone! How you all getting on?!I've managed two fast days this week and stuck to the correct calories etc. I weigh on a Monday so will let you know the results :)
Going for a meal and drinks tonight which may undo all my good work though!
I've been having a carton of soup split between lunch and tea too dogmatix - I find it more filling than salad.
