Fasting / 5:2 diet

Swollen stomach after NF day food?

So Monday and Tuesday were fast days for me this week. I managed about 650-700 cals each day, which is fine. Today was a NFD. BUT, my stomach must have shrunk in that short time because it's completely swollen now. Having just had dinner. So, my menu today looked like this:

Breakfast: soft boiled egg, 2 sliced w/meal toast with butter; OJ

Lunch: 4 Carrs Crackers with butter

Dinner: 1/4 of chicken and broccoli hone-made puff pastry pie; sweetcorn, green beans.

So, as you can see, I haven't overloaded on bread - or excessive carbs for that matter.

So why has my stomach gone so big all of a sudden? It definitely came on after dinner and feels uncomfortable?

Anyone else have this?

i'm only just getting into the 5:2 and no idea if it's related to your stomach shrinking but toast, crackers and pastry all in one day would have me bloated up too

on my fast days i'm cutting out carbs all together, and really struggling with carbs on NFDs

Because of the wheat? Perhaps though it was after the pastry that it was swollen, not the crackers (which are the small ones and in total came to just 55cals. I was eating dinner with the kids and wasn't absolutely relaxed as dd2 had to be taken to Brownies at 6pm. Wondered if I rushed it a bit...

most definitely all that wheat would affect me, especially if it was rushed

also, i'm under the impression that fast days are not to be consecutive

I can't ever eat much the day after a fast day; I feel bloated and over-stuffed if I try and eat "normally". I am fine two days after though. I think many 5:2ers find their appetite shrunk the day after fasting. If I were you, I'd go easy after two consequtives.

I went right off puff pastry after me and my ex made chicken pie, he made the pastry I made the pie filling (scrapped left over roast chicken, leftover roast veg, leftover gravy)

We ate the whole thing and afterwards ex revealed he had put a whole block of butter in the pastry Confused

Can't fast days be consecutive? Why not? Isn t it the overall weekly cals that count? I just find it easier cause my appetite has diminished

Personally I think consecutively are fine, just that my appetite is severely suppressed after them c.f. spacing them out and that leads to more bloating (for me).

It is much more sustainable to NOT fast two days running.
Remember, you'll be fasting for the rest of your life.
And yes, after fasting, your appetite will diminish
and once you get lean and mean, your TDEE will be as little as 1500 calories ...
