I started off 10.1 stone.

The morning after my 3rd fasting day (Friday) I weight 9.13.

Great!

This is the morning of my 4th fasting day (not post fasting day like the above) and Im 10.2!!!

A 1lb heavier than my original weight.

I dont feel like Im iver indulging on non fasting days, I dont eat cake, crisps, sweets, although I do like wine.

Last night I made a home made pizza which was lovely but it was wheat free and cheeseless. How bad for you can a wheat free cheeseless pizza be?!

How long do I continue before this diet isnt for me?

This is only your 3rd fast day? You need to give it a lot more time than that. Despite the name, this isn't a "fast" approach at all, especially when I'm guessing you dont have a lot to lose.

Give it at least a month, ideally don't weigh yourself again until after a whole month.

Your weight will fluctuate naturally anyway. Last week, on my period, I was 8 stone 11. Today, post a fast and first thing, I was 8 stone 6. I have neither lost not gained that much in a week and a bit. It will be water retention, natural daily variation depending on whether you've been to the loo etc. I know a lot of people only weigh once a week/month but that can be disheartening if you hit a heavy day. If you can weigh every morning without greeting obsessed, you'll gradually see a downwards trend. Remember, it takes approx 3500 cals either way to gain or lose a pound. If you haven't eaten that much, it's not extra fat! My fitness pal is very useful for taking calories

Tracking calories, sorry, on phone. Good luck! I was two stone heavier this time last year. Best to lose the weight gradually anyway.

Today is my 4th fast day so yes I have only completed 3.

I didnt realise it took so long, I will be more patient then thank you.

I definitely havent gone anywhere near 3500 calories thats for sure. Thats LOADS!

I'm in the same boat as you duck. Today is my 5th fast day and I appear not to have lost a single pound so far. It's a bit disheartening, I keep measuring my waist hoping to have lost a bit off there, but that's not happening either.

Still I'm going to keep going as I love the principal of it.

You have to be realistic - a matter of days will never be enough to see a difference.

I have been doing 5:2 for 6 months and have lost 7 kilos. It has been incredibly gradual, but it has happened none the less. There have been actual months where it hasn't felt like I've lost anything, but overall, 7 kilos over 6 months is significant.

I am a devotee - will fast 2 days per week for the rest of my life. It's just too easy to stay slim, whilst also enjoy whatever I fancy.

Just to add a TMI element to this...

5:2 seems to make it a little harder to go for most people, which tends to result in some weight gain. Its not real weight gain of course but if you haven't cleared properly the scales may be showing gains or non losses. also the weight loss slows as you are closer to target and I'm guessing that at 10st 1 the most you'll be looking to lose is around 1st/1.5st, so you may lose at a slower than average weight.

sorry to hijack thread but can someone explain what 5:2 diet is?

andthats 5:2 is a way of eating that involves you eating a very calorie restricted diet for 2 non consecutive days a week and eating normally for the other 5. It has health benefits other than just weight loss too.

Personally I wait until the evening before eating and then have a large meal or several small courses. So something like soup, stuffed pepper and a yoghurt. There's a recipe thread on here with varying currys/stews/other main courses for fasting days.

I'm not losing much either. Will be on my 6th (I think) fast tomorrow. Last week I had lost 5lbs since I started, although this week I seemed to have gained 2lbs.

I started swimming at least 3-4 times a week in July, but missed last week as was on my period. I went out for a meal on Sat (first in months) and was a bit naughty having a dessert, so I guess that could account for the regain?

I don't mind fast days at all, but it seems that I will just end up dieting on non fast days as well. I am feeling very disheartened.

Dont look at individual weeks. Look at the total amount you have lost in the total time you have been following this approach.

Weight varies duriing each day, and from day to day, so it does not come off in a nice straight line.

Thank you Melanie, to be fair, I need to start eating better things on my fast days and I tend to split it between breakast and evening meal as I just feel awful without breakfast .

I don't go over my 500 calories (mostly) on s FD, but I know I eat too much chocolate on my NFDs....my one vice lol. Need to cut down!
