Would you mind sharing your typical menu on a fast day.

I eat nothing all day (but mainline black coffee), then have something like a veg curry in the evening (no rice). I've been doing this a while though and worked my way up to that. I used to have a carrot soup for lunch and a smaller portion of the veg curry. (or veg stew or veg chilli).

See the recipe thread for more ideas.

I'm like french nothing until dinner, then either chicken broth and some crackers/bread or a large stir fry with zero noodles (which I then top off with a bounty bar if I have one to hand Grin)

Twinkle for what it is worth it was my first fast day yesterday, so I am a novice but my menu was:

Low cal cereal bar (70cals) and on FF's advice I won't be having that again due to spiking insulin levels.

Four cups of english breakfast tea with a splash of skimmed milk.

Lunch was mixed lettuce leaves, raw pepper raw baby corn, cuumber and three large cauli florets (cooked and well seasoned with herbs)

Lots of water.

Dinner was a weight watchers soup and one slice of bread.

I'm working up to zero calories until dinner, but for now I'm still at:

Skim coffee around lunchtime (70 cals or so)

Miso soup around late afternoon (35 cals)

Big bowl of chicken and lentil soup, or fish and udon noodle soup, both with lots of green vegetables (recipes are on the recipe thread) - 250-300 cals, around 7.30pm.

Bowl of spiced popcorn, or a banana, around 9pm.

Mine varies, but I skip breakfast and aim for a late lunch (~ 2pm). Lately, I've been having Itsu Slim Salmon (288 cals) and then scrambled eggs with spinach for dinner (~ 7-8 pm)

I love Itsu dlk227! Not had it for ages between being pregnant and now working from home with no itsus locally.
I am also a novice and can't do a day without food yet so for breakfast had about 15g of porridge oats made with water and some stewed apple. Then did a body pump class at lunch and had a bowl of Glorious north african vegetable soup with 40g of chickpeas. For dinner I am having stir fried veg, spinach, prawns and cashew nuts with lime/soy/fish sauce combo. That's 500 cals on the nose. I drink water and tea with no milk or sugar.

I managed to not have breakfast on tuesday as I went for a run instead but otherwise I find I feel too hungry in the morning. Though only on week 2!

Breakfast (if I have it) - boiled egg, or scramble made with one egg and one white, maybe some mushrooms.

Lunch - low cupasoup or miso soup.

Dinner - grilled chicken or fish with veggies.

Snacks - rice cakes or oatcakes or ryvita with laughing cow light. 10 calorie jelly. Satsuma.

I blog my 5and2 progress on a weekly basis - can't link from teh work computer but if you google "dancingatlunacy" you'll find it. There's plenty of similar blogs out there too, most of which have much better photos than mine!

golden we make an aubergine curry very similar to the one on the recipe thread. We cook everything from scratch, so no sauce as such, just the relevant spices and a can of chopped toms.

We've also been eating bean chilli a lot recently, and when we had lots of butternut squash we did a butternut and sweet potato stew (link on recipe thread )

Thanks frenchfancy I will be checking out the recipe threads.

I am on my second fast day (Think I will find mid week whilst I am busy at work easier) and had one scrambled egg for breakfast. I don't think I will be able to skip breakfast fr a while yet, I find myself getting very lightheaded and sluggish when I've done that in the past.

So breakfast was around 7am just before I left the house. I ahve been drinking water and tea to fill me up between, lunch soon, I will do the same as Wednesday and fill up on salad stuff with no dressing I think there is some kind of grilled fish available today too so will check out the calories in that. I have weight watchers chicken noodle soup for dinner this evening, only around 50cal.

Breakfast- 1 apple, water (100cals)

Lunch- 1 banana, tea with milk (120 cals)

Dinner- fresh tomato soup (150 cals) and a boiled egg (80 cals)

Total- 450 calories

Cheap, easy and just about covers nutrition, I think.

Cup of tea for breakfast
Prawn salad for lunch (prawns are low in calories and bulk up a salad)
Carrot and coriander soup and one piece of bread
Enough calories left for a snack for supper
All homemade! X

Breakfast - tea, splash of skimmed milk
Lunch - green salad with 2 slices of ham, or prawn stir fry- up to about 150 cal
During the afternoon- diet coke (I know, but it gets me through) plus 1 coffee with splash skimmed milk
Tea - vegetable stew, or quorn ready meal (lasagne or cottage pie) and veg - up to 300 cal.
if I am desperate when I get home from work (eat my dinner about 9pm when kids in bed) I have a carrot or some beetroot, which might just tip me over 500 cals but stops me eating kids' leftovers.
