Vaginal Ring or Patch any experience?

After years of successfully taking the pill before dd was born I was initially refused to go back on it as my weight had crept up. I've not used any contraception since then, but I'm in a new relationship and I think I really shouldn't just rely on condoms as I really don't want any more bubbas!

I am no longer allowed to have the pill as have just been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. The doctor is pushing for the mirena, but I've only heard bad things and as I have a tilted cervix I don't think I could stand having it fitted.
I've heard about the patch and the ring, these appeal to me as if the hormones disagree with me I can stop using them easily.
