Has anyone had a Mirena removed & copper coil fitted on same day - any thoughts?

I've had Mirena for a bit over a year. I recently realised:

  • it's totally killed my libido,
  • my acne is worse (again - sob - I'm 33 & have had 2 rounds of Roaccutane in the last decade),
  • I'm tired, grumpy & snappy most of the time,
  • face hair is worse,
  • I've gained nearly a stone, despite trying to keep to a reasonably healthy diet & exercise when I can.

So my doctor has agreed, it's clearly not for me. However, I've seen on here, that women have experienced really heavy AF following removal. (Someone actually mentioned "gushing") Shock This, plus the fact that the copper coil is known to make AF heavier, is making me nervous. Please reassure me? Or should I wait a while between getting the Mirena removed & the copper put in?

I have. It was a bit more sore than just having the Mirena as to be expected but there was no extra blood loss etc.

I took some nurofen, took it a bit easy at home for rest of day and was completely fine the next day.
Best thing I ever did, I hated the Mirena and love my copper!

And yes my periods are heavier on copper than Mirena but still lighter than no coil at all. I probably wear one super Tampax all period and the rest either normal or lites.

Thanks, MTS, that's quite reassuring. I'm still not looking forward to having it done though, having the damned thing put in, in the first place, was bad enough.
