Does the contraceptive implant Nexplanon cause cold/night sweats?

Hi everyone. Relatively new MN member and I think this is my very first thread! (So please no flaming this time round, ha ha). :-)

I've recently had the contraceptive implant Nexplanon put in (my first implant ever). It was put in just over a week ago (24/06/13) and apart from a very sore arm for the next day and a massive (still there) bruise, I've not had any other possible side effects until now.

For the past 2-3 days/nights I've noticed that when in bed my skin felt very cold (struggling to keep warm and shivers of coldness go through body then I feel warmer) but my body also felt warm at the same time (confusing I know). To be blunt, am sweating like crazy even in just a t-shirt. I've never experienced this before and feel a bit scared as I usually have a constant level temperature and it's very unlike me to feel too warm. Even now sitting at the PC typing this, I feel bloody hot/sweaty but keep getting cold shivers. WTF is wrong with me?!

The Dr explained all sorts of possible side effects before the implant was done (she was very good and is my usual Dr). However this cold/hot/sweat thing wasn't one of them. I've checked online re. Nexplanon and again cannot find this side effect listed.

Please may I ask if anyone has experienced the same? Or am I going nuts (some would say this happened a long time ago!) and have to get this checked out? I know some would probably say go see the Dr - however you have to wait over a month to be able to get an appointment (I had to wait 2 months to be able to get this implant in the first place)? So I thought I'd break my MN virginity and ask if anyone else has gone through this?

Thanks very much (I'm not on the PC all the time but do come on throughout the day so although may not respond straight away, will come on regularly to respond - I'm not ignoring anyone).

Hi you are not alone, I also thought it was just me, I’ve had my implant in for about 6 weeks now and I’m constantly cold, so cold I feel it chill to my bones, it’s so very strange. Definitely the implant

Hi there,
I had the implant put in 3 weeks ago and I’ve started having terrible night sweats. So bad that I’m changing Panama’s and bedding twice during the night where I’m soaked. It doesn’t come up as a side effect but seems a coincidence. Did anyone get to the bottom of this?

I've had 2 in consecutively, so 6 years, and never experienced this. Then again, my periods never stopped where as others have said theirs have so I guess it depends on the individual

Just be aware that night sweats are a sign of perimenopause. If your contraceptive is blocking your periods you may have a low ovarian reserve that is being masked. This happened to me, at 35 I had no idea of what was going on with my fertility as was on the implant and thought everything was fine. Get your fertility checked early.
