I had a mirena coil fitted after my first child. I had it for 3 years and other than the fact it hurt like hell going in I had no other pains and within 2 weeks all spotting had finished and I didn't have anther period. I had it remove and got pregnant straight away. I had another one fitted 6 weeks and 2 days ago. I'm still bleeding! Sorry of this is TMI for some but my doctors just keep telling me its normal and that's it. I had a week where is dropped to spotting and then last Saturday came back as bleeding and is still going. I'm so sick of it! At this rate I don't need to worry about contraception because I feel too dirty to even have sex! How normal is this? How l

Oops wrong button there. The last by was supposed to say how much longer am I likely to have so much bleeding. Occasional spotting I can deal with but this is ridiculous especially since I still can't use tampons as the strings haven't been trimmed yet and my "6 week" check isn't until June 3rd.

Still bleeding after 6 weeks - pretty normal IME. Is it heavy/like a period or just light but annoying.

Feeling 'too dirty' for sex - well normal for some, not for others. I would just warn DP that's it's a bit untidy and go for it if we wanted to

It's quite a lot. Like red full flow period not just light but annoying. If it was light then I'd say yeah still go for it but while its bleeding so much I just feel gross and don't want anyone near me. I also do a lot of exercise as I'm on a diet and that's just awful because by the time I'm finished the pad is soaked and I need a shower.

If it's still like the 2nd day of a period, heaviness wise, I would speak to the GP or the family planning clinic then, that doesn't sound quite usual to me. I bled/spotted for ages after mine but not full on bleeding.

That's what I thought. I expected some bleeding but it just seems to be full flow for nearly the whole time I've had it now. The doctor just told me I could raise any concerns I had at my 6 week check so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they say then but if I'm still bleeding this much come the 3rd of June I might just ask them to take it out. If nothing else I can't afford to be going through 2 boxes of pads a week for the next few months.

No, you don't have to wait til the check to speak to them. I think you have up with it long enough.

I'd get it checked before your 6 week check just to be sure its in the right place. My strings were trimmed when it was first put in btw.
