Does anyone have ant experience of the contraceptive patch?

I'm seeing the Doctor Wednesday to sort out new contraception after having my coil removed a few months ago.
Im useless at remembering pills so that's that one crossed off!
Injection is a possibility but I know there are a few side effects including weight gain (am overweight now so don't need that!)
I've read that the patch is recommended for under 14 stone. I'm 16 st so not sure I'd even be allowed it.
Any advice?
