Bleeding and Mirena

I had the mirena coil fitted about 14 months ago. It was great, no side effects. I was delighted with it. About a month ago I started bleeding. Not very heavy, but enough to have to wear panty liners/ tampons. I am still bleeding.
Is this normal? I know it happens after implantation for a while, but this has been perfect for over a year, and suddenly I stat bleeding. My GP is pretty certain it is Mirena but I am beginning to wonder whether its something more sinister?

Exactly the same happened to me three years ago. Turned out I had a "faulty" one which got removed under general anaesthetic and replaced. It's started happening again. I'm so disheartened. Just waiting a couple of more weeks to establish a pattern so I can go back to the GP.

BUT I originally got it because I had constant bleeding and this was he the best option to stop it. Why were you prescribed it in he first place?

Just for contraception. Wanted something semi permanent. This was recommended by both obstetrician and GP.

have you had it checked to see if it is still in place? Bleeding may indicate it has moved or even come out
