Hello,

My DH has a pre vasectomy appointment this week, we were wondering if anyone knows if he will be expected to provide a semen sample at this or do they only take samples months after the procedure????

Thanks in advance : )

My DH didn't need to provide any sample beforehand. He had to send them 3 samples at various intervals afterwards. It was only when there was no sperm present in his six month post-op sample that we got the "all clear" as it were.

No sample before op. He did one 12wks post op, tested and not clear so he's got to do another one, 12wks after first sample. Most people get the all clear after 12wks.

You send samples after the procedure: about 16-18 weeks. If not clear, they'll keep testing at intervals and repeat the vasectomy if he does not become infertile.

Thank you for all your replys.

We were just curious as it says allow 3 hours for the appointment and wondered what else it was going to Involve.
He will be pleased to know he's safe for now
