Examination at Family Planning Clinic?

My daughter wants to go on the pill and is making an appointment at out local clinic. Is an internal examination standard practice nowadays?
I remember at my first visit the nurse sent me to see the doctor and I had an internal done....

I didn't when I went but that was 20 years ago! I can't see why they would. Just do a weight and blood pressure check I would think
