Cerazette?

Had my copper coil removed yesterday and was given cerazette. I have pcos and fibroids, the nurse said Cerazette might help.

I read that periods can be lighter and even stop completely, and that PMS symptoms can be eased.

Just wondering if anyone else is taking it and how you're getting on with it?

I LOVE it - no periods at all. No problems with it

Hi mumof I've taken cerazette for about 5 years (with a break to conceive and have DD). I love it, my periods have completely stopped and i have no side effects i have noticed.

I don't have pcos or fibroids, so I can't comment on how it will impact on these things, but I have been taking it for a few years. I haven't had periods at all, and I have found that really good. No period so no PMS. I came off it to ttc and we conceived within 4 months. Now my little boy is 5 months old and I am back on it again. It's not for everyone though... some people I know don't like not getting a period, for example.

I've taken it for 5 ish years, and have found it mostly positive, after a year of light irregular bleeding my periods have virtually stopped.

Thanks - I started it last night.

Got a 3 month supply so will see how I get on.

I had 3 week bleeds with the coil so I'm looking forward to that stopping!

How long do I need additional protection for? Nurse said 7 days, leaflet said 2 days?

I've just been prescribed this today, came home and googled it and am a bit horrified by all the stories of side effects, even a thread on mumsnet.

I was on Cerazette for a while. No bleeding.

I did have lots of mood swings while on it though. I put on lots of weight while on it too. I thought that I must just be too greedy, until I lost 2 stones within 6 weeks of stopping taking it.

I've been on it for several years, hardly ever have a period and when I do it's v.light. Never had any side effects

Well I've been on it for a week.

My mysterious discharge has completely gone since having the coil out too Smile

I have really sore boobs though, so bad when I take my bra off that I could cry! After an hour or so they're slightly tender but bearable. When I have my bra on my boobs are like bullets - really firm, I'm sure they've grown Smile

On Monday I was in an absolutely vile mood - I wanted to hammer anyone or anything that I came across - but am fine now so guessing it was just the hormones.

I'm due my period in a few days, so we'll see what happens Smile

I've been on it for years, it was brilliant - no periods until recently. Now I'm getting a full on period every other week. Back to the doctors on Monday for me.

I was doing well on it, a lighter and pain free period no weight gane, in fact I lost a couple of pounds. However, have had to come of it as it sent me into a very deep depression and very bad tempered. Dh told me to stop taking it to see if I improved and 2 days after I started feeling much brighter.

Shame really but not good for me or my family for me to be that affected, so back to condoms until I am ready to make a more permanent decision.

I was fine on it after ds was born (had PCOS), but took it recently after dd was born and ended up with really bad postnatal depression. Luckily I saw a thread suggesting it could do that just before leaving the kids with dh and running away, stopped taking the pills, and was back to happy mummy within a week.

So if you think you're getting depressed, stop taking it!
But previously it was fine, think I had one light period in a year.

Now have a copper coil which seems to be great - I figure that if I usually only have one period a year thanks to PCOS, it being heavier and longer wouldn't be too much of a problem.
