Cerazette - did you have symptoms from day one of taking?

The last time I was on the pill I was in my very early 30s and prescribed Femodene the combined pill.

I am now 43, two children behind me, and about to start a new sexual relationship with a new partner. Ihave been prescribed Cerazette, the progesterone-only pill.

I did lots of research and mooted which recommended contraception on here. I hate the idea of hormonal contraception and wanted the diaphragm but it's not reliable, nor advisable at the start of a new relationship really.

Now I have read many horror stories and many happy stories about Cerazette as you'd expect, but because it's the newest brand of mini-pill, I'm more worried than usual.
I know it will affect us all differently, but I'd love to get a general consensus on any symptoms, side effects, etc. from other people of my age group, from the day they started taking it.

I never really had side effects on the combined pill, but immediately I took Cerazette, I had little flutters of contraction-like pains (I've never had period pains, I'm assuming this is what they feel like). But, from day one? Does that bode poorly for the future?! My boobs have also definately swollen a little!

I realise my body won't be used to suddenly being flooded with all this synthetic chemical crap - I don't do any kind of chemicals recreational or medicinal and a paracetamol is the strongest toxin I'll put inside me, but it's making me nervous already.

If several people mention identical symptoms or side effects from day one of taking, I suppose it will help console me a little.

Thankyou

I don't know about the first day, but from the first week I got migraines - at least 2 a week. I came off it after about 6 weeks, got the Mirena coil and never looked back!

HTH, didn't want to leave you unanswered.

It took a while for me to see a difference, first time it stopped my periods, was so happy no PMS yeah. Second time around its taken a few months but aless PMS husband says I seem a lot happier still have my periods but no pain I am breast feeding so I think that affects my periods. For me going on Cerazette was the best thing ever, hated going off it to ttc for ds.
