Sudden bleeding 6 months after mirena coil fitting - is this normal?

Sounds a bit strange to me, particularly as presumably its been OK for 6 months. Are we talking heavy bleeding or spotting? I spot occasionally with the Mirena, but not had any problems otherwise.

I would say yes that it is normal, I have one fitted Sep 10, bled constantly until Jan 11 then it stopped then bled suddenly Aug 11, just before my holiday sods law. No bleeding since then but this weekend I had a bleed. Although the mirena coil is usually inserted to stop bleeding you can still have a bleed on it. But if you are in any doubt I would make an appointment with your GP

Occasional spotting here too but I had nothing at all for the first year or so, so maybe it can come on out of the blue. Heavy flow or spotting OP?
