Dh having snip

We have talked this over loads and dh has agreed to have snip. He has an appointment in few weeks.
Anyone know risks? How long before we can't get pregnant ect?

Dh spoke to the GP in August, we had the counselling session in December and he had the procedure in April. He then did a sperm test at 12 an 16 weeks and we got the all clear in the August.

I'd recommend well fitting pants an arnica tablets for after the procedure as I didn't expect his willy and balls to be so badly bruised. His first come was recommended to be a wank when he felt ready but it was about 4 weeks before he felt comfortable after the stitches and procedure for us to have sex.

We got probably about a years supply of condoms too to use until then.

Another option would be you getting Essure. They go through the cervix and put some inserts in your fallopian tubes which stimulate tissue growth so that after three months your tubes are completely blocked. I had six weeks of feeling pretty tired on the pre-op meds plus a week of being knackered and sore after the general anesthetic for the actual procedure. We were having sex a week after the procedure, it was just bad period type pains that stopped us. If you do want to have Essure then you should email [email protected] to find out the doctors who do it on the NHS in your area so you can tell your GP who to refer you to.

That's a long time Groovee. I'm watching this thread as we're still at the 'thinking about' it stage.

Mine had his done at the Maries Stopes Clinic and there was no problems with it at all. I watched the procedure and they make one very small cut in the centre of the scrotum, hook the tubes out one by one, and then block them with a heat device. The only discomfort was when they injected each tube to deaden it, he said that stung some and made his balls ache. But everything else was painless, no stitches or bruising. They told him to bring tight fitting pants so perhaps that helped.
They told him he needed to come around 20 times so the sperm still in the tubes would be cleared. He had tests at 10 & 12 weeks and all was fine.
We had sex fairly quickly after it was done, I gave him a wank for the first couple of weeks and then we had intercourse after about 3 weeks.
