Awesome! Tell us how you get on. I'm pregnant with number 4 but already looking into Essure and have found someone who will do it on the NHS in London. Do you know any more about the procedure? Thanks, pp

is a good video showing how they do the actual procedure. The thing that took me by surprise is that they're going to do it under general anesthetic. I also have to take a drug for the next 6 weeks to thin the lining of my uterus.

There are actually a few doctors in London that do it. Here's the list I got from the Essure people themselves back in August:

St Thomas?s- Mr Rajiv Varma
Barts and the London-Ms Liza Ball
University College Hospital London-Mr Ertan Seradogan
Ealing-Mr Toh Lik Tan
Royal Surrey County-Mr Mark Ford and Ms Karen Morton
Chelsea and Westminster - Mr Rik Richardson (he was about to start doing it when I got the list).

My GP was able to confirm that Barts, UCL and Royal Surrey County all do it on the NHS (the others didn't reply). She said she's write me a referral letter for UCL but I got the appointment at Royal Surrey County so I think the doctor at UCL turned me down.

Interested to hear how you got on. I am going to ask my doctor about Essure next week. I hope I get referred.

I had essure about 4 months ago. Mine wasnt under anesthetic but it was a bit uncomfortable. I dont seem to have any after effects at all which in one way I find rather unsettling Hmm

Its strange that they do it at barts as one of the 'audience' was a consultant at barts who was considering starting offering it.

One thing is that I dont think its an easy procedure and tbh I would go for someone who has done plenty of them b4. Even the follow up scan had to be checked by a consultant radiologist.

Mine was done by prof. Gupta at birmingham womens on the nhs. I was really impressed by him but thats not much help if ur looking for someone in london.
