implant ?

had one put in a week 1/2 ago, after 4 pregnancys (2 live births) in the space of 4 years i thought its time to get something long term put into use. any one got or had an implant could you tell me how its affected you good stuff and bad please. also could someone tell me about the removal of it because when i had it done i was told about getting it put in but not much about removing it, all i was told was it can come out as late as in three years.

I have one and I love it.

Periods haven't disappeared like they can do in some people but they are 'normal'. Not too heavy or long or frequent.

I'm still on my first implant so I haven't had one taken out yet.

I prefer the implant to other methods because we are finished our family but neither want a permanent sterilization. However we can have it taken out should we change our minds. I was also pretty crap at remembering the pill, condoms were a faff, and i didn't like the idea of a coil being put it.

I had one in.
For one year i had almost 6 months of constant bleeding, (not as heavy as a period but not just spotting) the othre 6 months i had heavy bleeding. Unfortunately mine made a shift in my hormones which gave me cysts and endometriosis. I had it removed almost two years ago but have been in and our of hospital for the effects it gave me, including being taken to A&E several times and needing 3 operations :(.
However, not all doom and gloom, my sister is on her second and loves it as she hasn't had any problems with it at all.

In terms of removing it, the nurse/doctor makes a small cut in your upper arm (under local anaesthetic) then pulls the implant out, it can take a little bit of tugging but it doesn't hurt at all.

I had one for a year and a half'. I didn't have any periods at all, and no libido at all.
I had it removed by a dr who had never seen one and it was fine.

I'm on my second, and it's been fine. Periods are irregular but much lighter and painless, no weight gain that can't be explained by changes in my eating/exercising habits, and I'm not a hormental harpy like I was on the pill.

Having it removed is a strange sensation, but as NannyNat says, it's not painful.
