Dd is hell bent on learning Italian and I have decided to finally give in (where's that lazy mum emoticon?). Just wondering if anyone can recommend any good books/learning material?

I have ordered something from Amazon called "Italian for Children", just quite basic I think to get started with tapes and game activities.

The Usborne language books are very good, think they do an Italian one.

Thanks don't think I know those, I've only seen the picture dictionaries but I found them a bit overloaded for a total beginner. Perhaps they'd be helpful after a year or so. I'll have a google and see what comes up under Usborne.

Thanks Teeny, I hadn't come across those books yet. They look quite good. I always like those books on amazon with the "look inside" facility.

This is the one I have ordered which comes with 2 cds and looks more basic than the Usborne one.www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0071407731/ref=sib_rdr_dp

Seems to be little activities to do based on what is in the CD, lots of songs. The Usborne one looks more structured and would probably be a good follow book. Thanks for the tip!

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
