point out to him what my dad did - that there is nothign to be scared of and swimming is best way to avoid drowning [plus you can drown in all sorts of places (eg bath) so you shouldnt be particularly afriad of deep water..I wouldnt actually add the last bit as it kind of robbed my dads pep talk of its power by making me nervous of any water for a while )
i took my mum to one of dd's swimming lesson. She has severe sn and doesnt really appreciate she could drown and has no fear of such. My mother sat there squirming and going, oh dear, oh dear, is she ok is she ok, she wont let her drown, oh dear[hmm for the WHOLE half hour. I could have killed her too
lol fio - last week at swimming lessons there was a new helper in dd2's class. he stood her on the side so she could jump in and lethergo - i didn't know whether to call an ambulance or start squealing 'hold her hand you fuckwit, she's got no balance!' fortunately she staggered backwards and then forwards, and then crashed into the pool, whereby the teacher (fairly pale) muttered something to him under her breath. next time, he held her hand but lol at big brother's jobs. i made the mistake of saying to dd2 the other day 'of course ds1 is annoying you darling, he's your brother, that's his job' - so now he thinks he's got carte blanche to do exactly that. bugger.
