I have two students who have been in the children's choir for the past three years. The oldest has just auditioned for the youth choir.

Hello Pictures.

My dd has just gained a place for next year and although i know they will send more details and we have meetings etc I am really impatient and wondered if you knew much about it.
my main question is how much time it actually takes up, I already know that its a commitment to attend all rehearsals and wholeheartedly agree with this.
I am curious as sometimes you can get involved with something that seems a couple of hours per week at first but ends up taking over.
If this was the case dd would be looking at not returning to some of her other groups in September.

Youngest DS is in youth choir and I have singing pupils in childrens, they all seem to have a ball with these!
DS sang last night with them at a little gig in the Albert Hall Grin

The girls in question are very busy girls doing multiple actives , musical instruments, drama & dance. They seem to manage. The only clashes they have had us the odd rehearsal before a concert has clashed with Saturday dance & their high school were a bit sniffy about them missing school concerts in the evening that clashed with a Halle concert.

They both really enjoy it. Not heard about if they have places for next year as I won't see them now til sept.

The busiest time is when the Christmas concerts are on at the Bridgewater but the info on dates comes out very early so you can plan ahead.

Wow, the Albert Hall amazing, do the younger ones have concerts there or just the older ones. my dd said she thought she saw them on credits from the Proms last year, but I presumed that would have been NYC.
Thanks for the info about xmas concerts.

Thank you, that was very helpful. She does have another choir she would like to keep, some ensembles, other instruments to practice and dancing. so I guess it might be a bit of a juggle at times.

The youth choir did a Prom last year and will do two this year, they have Parsifal at the end of August.
The organisation and communication is excellent and DS loves HYC, he is also going to play in HYO next year!

Thank you noteven

She is a very excited little girl at the moment and September can't come quickly enough for her.
She auditioned back in April and received the letter on saturday. She really didn't think she stood a chance, and we have been keeping her grounded so she wouldn't be too disappointed if she hadn't got in. So we were all a bit Shock

Another of my boy pupils is joining HCC in September and DS still LOVES the youth choir and orchestra. They have tours to Paris and Cologne this summer Smile
