Tutoring to Grade 1 myself?

I had a bad run of luck with teachers, which is such a shame as my DD1 is so keen (age 6). I can play the piano quite well (to grade 5 or 6) but have no experience of teaching young children....do you think I could pull it off teaching her to Grade 1? has anyone attempted it?

DD1 is keen for me to teach her and is not bothered either way, but I don't want to let her down (ie prepare her badly and then she fails!!!)

I'm teaching my own children to play the piano, but we are not intending to do exams. It's great fun!

Thanks, that's reassuring! Although I would like mine to do exams, but I guess there is no rush!

Yes, you should be more than able to teach her yourself for now. I should warn you though, I teach my DS violin and piano (I'm professionally trained, but it's no longer my career) and it can be hell at times! What they would do willingly for someone else can cause all sorts of arguments and sulks when requested by a parent!!
Just make sure that if you get to a point where you want to do exams, you have swotted up on the rules and regulations, and I would recommend finding someone near the exam date to do a 'practice exam' with, just so your DD has experience of playing to someone else.
Good luck ... hope your DD is less hot-headed than my DS!
