Electric guitar amp cable

I need to buy a new amp to guitar lead, the one ds has is crackling a lot.
I don't understand what makes a 'good' cable, don't want to spend lots, but don't want to get a cheapy version again either, it's all gobbledegook to me!
Can anyone give me an idea what I should be looking for or how much I should be spending? Thanks

My DS buys all his gear via this site - he reckons it's quite cheap www.gear4music.com/. But you could use the site to identify what you want and then check out ebay where you may get the same think cheaper.

It's probably the connections that are causing the crackling, so go for something a little better than the one that came with the guitar and amp.

By connections, I mean jacks (what I call, much to DS's disgust, the pluggy in things)

thanks drayford, I'll look at that site, but what makes a better plugy in thing?

I'm told (by guitar hero DS - who mainly plays acoustic or unplugged) that the crackle is caused by the jack (pluggy in thing) not making complete contact either in the amp input or guitar input. According to DS this can be caused by the contacts in the jack not quite connecting properly - a better quality (more expensive) cable can correct this, but if your DS is an aspiring Halen (playing power chords etc) and is dancing about a bit while he is playing, that could be enough to cause the crackle. Otherwise, according to DS, go to your local guitar shop and explain the problem and they should help you rectify it.

How old is your DS btw?
